13 May 2013 – Excursions
Excursions in and around Hamburg will demonstrate the versatility of Green Roof use for single buildings and within the context of modern urban planning. Registration for the excursions is only possible in connection with a one-day or two-day congress ticket. Excursion 1 and 2 will take place at the same time. All trips will start and end at the congress venue Hotel Empire Riverside Hamburg.

Workshops – afternoon sessions
The practice-oriented workshops will see certified Green Roof experts, designers, landscape architects, landscape contractors, plant experts and delegates of municipal authorities sharing their knowledge and answering questions and queries. The workshops 1 and 2 are in parallel sessions, therefore only one workshop can be selected.
Workshop 1: "Green Roofs – Practical Experience"
This workshop will provide participants with a profound knowledge of planning and installing Green Roofs. Additionally, emphasis will be placed on the technical and ecological performance of Green Roofs and international guidelines and standards.

Workshop 2: "Green Roof Policies: Urban Planning and Stormwater Management"
In cooperation with the HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) and the Ministry of Urban Development and Environment Hamburg (BSU). How can a 21st-century metropolis continue to grow in a sustainable and balanced way? This workshop will demonstrate the possibilities of Green Roofs as an urban planning tool based on national and international case studies.
